Through the use of historical photographs, shot footage, and google earth screenshots, Layered and Recast: The History of Santa Ana’s Chinatown, draws parallels between the 1906 eradication of the budding Chinatown that once existed in Santa Ana, California, and the present day ethnic cleansing that is affecting the thriving hispanic community in the same area. The narration of these events leading up to, and following the government mandated incineration of Chinatown, was partially taken from periodicals covering the local events during that time period.
