immigrant wombs

Immigrant Womb (installation shot) // 2019 // video projection inside a painted suitcase, flocked surfaces, resin, steel

Suitcase Story (performance stills) // 2019 // 21 Ludlow Gallery // New York

Bodies smuggled beneath fruit
Stay hidden but present
Approaching, not yet arriving

Preoccupied with the contents of a suitcase
the inherited load is overflowing
spilling over and tumbling

As the rusted zipper breaks open
Bodies are hurled
Falling into a world of ego and chatter

Bodies absorb salt
Cords are cut
Private struggles becoming public

You spoke passionately about labor and diligence
And said we had the right to make the best life for ourselves
